Finally got my hands on learning Substance Painter. Have to be honest, I didn't like it at first. The feature I thought to be basic (flip layer horizontal/mirror) was missing and I spent hours looking for it, browsing forums for an answer, coming up with a workaround. The piece I was about to start texturing was an asymmetrical shape, but had a symmetrical design printed on top so something like a mirror and warp could really benefit the whole process. But that didn't discourage me from learning the software. In the end, I decided to use a different software for that particular piece and carry on with the rest of the texturing in Substance.
So far I like it. There are many tutorials out there that helped me start diving in the world of PBR texturing. Interface was easy to navigate and, in general, everything seems very intuitive. I was able to get realistic results pretty quickly and without much of a headache. The layer system reminded me of a Photoshop, the software I am very familiar with. And the best part is that it works perfectly with Vray.
